How the Favikon Index works

The Favikon score

Every tracked public figure receives an authority score each day, on an open-ended scale of roughly 0 to 11,500 points. It combines four components, each expressed as a percentile against all the creators Favikon tracks on the same platform:

The overall score combines Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X and LinkedIn. Posts less than 24 hours old are excluded: they have not finished accumulating views. A given day's score therefore describes the window ending the day before.

The tier (1 to 10, 1 being the highest) divides the scale into fixed bands that stay the same from one day to the next. The most-followed figures sit in tiers 1 to 4, so the top of a ranking is tight: a few dozen points can be worth a place.

The influence map

The map places each person on two measures over the last 30 days. Up: how many views their posts got. Right: how much their posts make people react (likes, comments, shares), compared with the median account of the same size, on the same platform and in the same country. 1× is the normal reaction for an account that size; 2× means twice as many reactions. Posts under 48 hours old are excluded so recent posts aren't penalized.

For each platform, we take the median reactions per post relative to followers, so a single viral video doesn't skew the month. The benchmark is the same median across all active individual accounts (at least 3 posts in the period, brands excluded) in the same follower band (5K–20K, 20K–100K, 100K–300K, 300K–1M, 1M–3M, 3M+), in France; a band with fewer than 200 accounts widens to Europe, then worldwide. It is recalculated every Monday. A platform counts from 3 posts and 5K followers; “All” combines platforms with a follower-weighted geometric mean. The index is capped between 0.2× and 5×. Views only count where they are public (TikTok, YouTube, X, Instagram Reels); LinkedIn doesn't show them, so its map reads in reactions. Facebook is not on the map yet.

Who is ranked

One list per person when roles overlap: Jake Paul is in Creators, not Athletes. One exception: a creator can be in both Creators and B2B creators.

Everyone: eligibility lists are checked weekly.

Each world ranking scores its whole pool every day, a pool wider than the list shown, so entries and exits are real. Roles are given as of the date the pool was built.

Platforms covered

Data updated every 6 hours. World rankings: people mostly active on platforms we don't cover (Weibo, WeChat, VK, Telegram) are under-represented.

Tracked accounts are refreshed every 6 hours. Facebook is shown for audience but is not part of the score. Facebook follower counts are rounded by the platform.

History

Charts go back up to two years. The past was reconstructed from posts retrieved directly from each platform, then scored with the same formula and the same scale as today's score. An older post's views and reactions are the ones it shows today, so a reconstructed history may differ by a few dozen points from what a same-day calculation would have produced. From today on, every data point is computed live.

Posts and share of attention

Posts, views and engagements over the last 7 days come from the official accounts tracked by Favikon. Share of attention compares each figure's engagements (or views, or number of posts) with the total for all figures in the same ranking, over the same window.

Politics section: polls

The voting intentions shown come from a single poll and a single scenario, cited with its pollster, its sponsors and its fieldwork dates. Only candidates tested in that poll appear in the comparison. We do not calculate or average any poll figures.

What it isn't

The Favikon Index measures online presence, not popularity or voting intention. A high score means a figure is seen, followed and talked about, not that they are liked or will be elected. Voting intentions, when shown, are cited with their pollster and date.

Election-weekend freeze

The Presidential 2027 ranking is frozen from Saturday 00:00 to Sunday 20:00 on each round: April 17–18 and May 1–2, 2027. During the freeze, the Poll column and the "Ballot box vs. screen" module are hidden, because polls can't be published or discussed in that window.

Favikon has published a political influence ranking since the 2022 French presidential election.
